Lady Treatt Performing Arts Scholarship

É«ÇéÖ±²¥Èí¼þ´óȫ’s invites applications for the Lady Treatt Performing Arts Scholarship from a student with a talent for drama and/or dance who is entering Year 9, 10 or 11 in 2026. The Scholarship has been established thanks to a generous bequest from the Estate of Lady Treatt (Frankie Wilson ’33, Head Girl). The Scholarship will provide 25% of tuition fees for the duration of the student’s time at É«ÇéÖ±²¥Èí¼þ´óȫ’s.

The Scholarship is awarded based on the student’s academic results in the scholarship exam taken in Year 8, 9 or 10, an audition and an interview. Applicants must have a sound academic record and be an outstanding performer for their age level.

The recipient is expected to demonstrate a commitment to the academic subject of drama and/or dance for the duration of her schooling at É«ÇéÖ±²¥Èí¼þ´óȫ’s (eg continuing to ATAR Drama or Dance in Years 11 and 12) and it is a condition of the Scholarship that the recipient plays a full and active role in the co-curricular performing arts program at É«ÇéÖ±²¥Èí¼þ´óȫ’s:

  • Drama: participation in interhouse drama, the Lower/Senior School Production; and
  • Dance: participation in interhouse dance, dance company.

Notes

  • The Scholarship does not cover boarding, the extra cost of some subjects, technology, textbooks and stationery, uniforms, musical instruments and tuition, camps and excursions and co-curricular activities. For details of these costs please visit .
  • It is intended that the recipient will hold the Scholarship for the duration of her schooling, unless her work or behaviour is not of the standard expected of all students at É«ÇéÖ±²¥Èí¼þ´óȫ’s, in which case the Scholarship may be rescinded.
  • The Lady Treatt Performing Arts Scholarship will only be awarded when there is an applicant of exceptional calibre, as identified by the Principal and Head of Performing Arts.

Drama Audition

  • Students should prepare a monologue from a published play (2-3 minutes in duration).
  • Students need to provide copy of the script of the monologue they are performing.
  • A chair will be provided for the audition if needed in the piece.
  • Only bring in additional props if they are essential to the performance.
  • Students should wear theatre blacks or a simple costume if necessary.

Dance Audition

  • Students should prepare a dance solo in their chosen genre (2-3 minutes in duration).
  • Solo should show technique, skills and performance quality.
  • Students should wear dance attire and necessary dance footwear for the solo. You must notify if the student will be performing tap or on pointe.
  • Music can be played with a mobile device on flight mode.

Scholarship requirements

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must register and sit the scholarship exam at É«ÇéÖ±²¥Èí¼þ´óȫ’s and attend an audition and interview in February 2025 on a date to be advised after Wednesday 5 February 2025. All students will be interviewed by the Head of Performing Arts and a Dance or Drama Teacher.

All applicants must upload the following document to the registration website on or before Wednesday 5 February (Friday 31 January 2025 for Remote and Overseas Registrations):

  • a letter to the Head of Dance and Drama (Miss Jenna Knights) outlining their involvement, achievements and passion for drama and/or dance and explaining why they would like to be/enjoy being a student at É«ÇéÖ±²¥Èí¼þ´óȫ’s. This letter should be no more than 300 words in length.

If your daughter is not a current student at É«ÇéÖ±²¥Èí¼þ´óȫ’s, the following documents must also be uploaded to the registration website on or before Wednesday 5 February 2025:

  • copies of awards or certificates (particularly for performing arts activities); and
  • proof of Australian Citizenship (eg birth certificate) or permanent residency (eg copy of visa).

Scholarship amounts

The Lady Treatt Performing Arts Scholarship awards part remission of 25% off the total tuition fee and is not open to negotiation. It is determined by É«ÇéÖ±²¥Èí¼þ´óȫ’s and is not open to negotiation.
